Turn
an Office into a Nursery
My husband and I each had
our own office until we found out we were having a baby, that
is. Now, my husband and I will be sharing his larger office,
while my old office is getting transformed into a nursery for
our little one.

messy office |

Yes, this
is where all I worked on Mormonchic and other fun
projects. I can't believe I'm so messy. My mom would
be so disappointed!

Whew!
We put in some hard work, but I think it was worth
it. Now, all we need is the baby!
NOTE, the netting canopy we used for our crib should
only be used when baby is very young and cannot
pull down. Also, make sure canopy is securely attached
to your ceiling to prevent any accidents.
ALSO, Consumer Reports recommends that parents use
extreme caution when adding blankets, comforters,
toys, pillows, etc., to their children's cribs.
Most experts also recommend that babies sleep on
their backs wearing warmer pajamas instead of using
fluffy comforters that could cause SIDS.
Since
this story first ran,
my husband and I were blessed to have a healthy,
baby boy, even though the ultrasound technician
had thought our little bundle of joy would be a
girl! With this new information, one of our first
tasks was to redecorate the nursery.
Here are some
pictures of the transformation to a boy's nursery.

Kelli & Matt France
knew they needed to make room for their new daughter Savannah,
but the room they chose might surprise you. Right next
to their master bedroom was an oversized walk-in closet.
So big that they thought it would serve as the perfect
little nursery for their little addition. With some work,
they made this drab closet into a colorful place for Savannah
to lay her head.

| BEFORE
& DURING..the large closet might just be a perfect
fit |
|

|
 |
| Paint
was the best way to transform this living space. White
was painted above the railing, and a buttery yellow
was painted below. A pink flowers were sponged along
a supporting board in the closet. |
| AFTER...a
colorful nursery any baby would love |
| What
a fun nursery! The best part? The room started out
as a closet so it can function as that. Above, Kelli
hangs Savannah's clothes on one side of the "closet"
nursery. |

1. Choose a paper
shade that matches your nursery.
2. Find a small paper
hole punch. (To find one small enough, we went to a local
craft store and purchased the kind of hole punch used
in leather working.)
3. Choose approx.
2 yards of ribbon, depending on the diameter of your shade.
4. With a pencil,
a mark dot about 1/2 inch from the bottom of the shade.
(These marks will be where you punch your holes.)
5. Make the next mark
about 1/2 inch from the first one, still 1/2 inch from
the bottom of the shade.
6. Make the next mark
about 1 inch from that one. Then make the next mark 1/2
inch away.
7. Repeat steps 4-6
until you've completely gone around the entire shade.
8. Thread the ribbon
through the holes, with the thread on the outside of the
shade being between the 1 inch holes.
9. Continue around
the shade until you've finished. Tie a bow with the ends.

Instead of a changing
table, Heather & Aaron Hales opted for a moveable
changing basket. The basket is stocked with the following:
-changing pad
-extra outfit
-diapers
-diaper ointment
-wipes
-pacifiers
-burp cloth
The Hales think this option is great because they can
move it to what ever room they want, instead of changing
their newborn boy on a changing table that is in one
room.
