Pictures
are one of our favorites here
at Mormonchic. We love taking them, scrapbooking
them, and especially hanging them. We've had
several readers ask us how to hang pictures,
so we decided to do a feature on the topic.
Join us as we learn the foolproof way to hang
pleasant looking pictures.
Step
by Step
(1) Trace each picture frame you want
to use in your collage in tissue paper. Cut each out
and set it aside.
(2)
You will use the tissue pieces later to mount the
pictures on the wall.
(3)
Lay your pictures out on the floor in a collage pattern.
Try different styles. We tried several before we came up
with the one we chose.
Rules to Remember:
(a) Start
with the big elements first. If you're doing several pictures, place
the larger pictures on the inside of the collage.
(b) Line
things up. You want the pictures to line up correctly. Match the
baselines of pictures.
(c) Choose
pictures of similar styles...similar types of frames, similar types
of pictures (black and whites, for example), similar subjects.
(4) After
you've picked a layout that you like, number each picture and correlating
tissue paper. This will help you keep track of all of them--especially
important if you are creating a very large collage.
(5) Measure your wall space
and fine the center. Make a small pencil mark, or indention with
your finger nail. Measure the width and length of the collage. Make
sure they will fit nicely and proportionately on the wall you've
selected. Hang all the tissue pieces on the wall first with tape.
Once the tissue pieces are to your liking, Place nails in the tissue
paper where the hooks are located. (NOTE, be sure to check the back
of the frame for what kind of hook it has. This can make a big difference
between hanging a picture correctly.) From here, hang your pictures,
and you're done!
