Finishing the Wingback
29. At the bottom of the seat, staple more welting cord along
the center. (SEE FIGURE Z)
30. Cut a rectangle of fabric to cover the bottom of the seat
under the welt. Cut a piece of cardboard stripping as long as
the fabric's length. Hot glue the stripping to the top of the
fabric. (SEE FIGURE AA).
31. Staple the cardboard piece with fabric underneath the welting
so the cardboard is at the bottom of the fabric. (SEE FIGURE BB).
Flip the fabric down, covering up the cardboard strip. (SEE FIGURE
CC)
32. Staple the fabric underneath the chair and trim off excess.
33. Repeat steps 30-32 for the lower arm. (SEE FIGURE DD)
34. Pull the side of the fabric closest to the back taut and
staple into the frame. (SEE FIGURE EE)
35. Place the rigid metal stripping on the other end of the lower
arm near the front. Wrap it around the end and wind it into the
chair so the teeth grab hold of the fabric (SEE FIGURE FF &
GG). Secure with mallet. (SEE FIGURE HH) Repeat for other lower
arm.
36. Finish the chair by adding the back piece. Use a piece of
flexible jaw stripping at the top of the back which is curved.
(Crafty Chic Note: If your top of the back is not curved, you
could use cardboard stripping instead.) Following the same instructions
as before when you did the outer wing and used the flexible metal
jaw stripping.
37. Finish the bottom by pulling the fabric taut and stapling
it underneath.
